If
fiberglass insulation is so outdated and dangerous to
your health and is such a drain
on the environment, why do so many building contractors still
use it? Good
question. There really is no excuse for contractors to be using
outdated Insulation Technologies. Other than financial
considerations (greed) and a total disregard for your
health and energy bills. Of course, they aren't the
ones paying your utility bills. more... |

US
Department of Health & Human Services adds
Fiberglass to the list of probable carcinogens...
5/15/2000 - United States Department of Health
and Human Services, National Toxicology Program has just
released Ninth Annual Report on Carcinogens.
Conclusion: Fiberglass is still "reasonably
anticipated to cause cancer in humans." This
report is now on-line. Or, just
read the part about fiberglass. (PDF) Fiberglass was
first listed in 1994 after a huge battle, in which the
fiberglass industry pulled every trick in the book to
prevent this listing. And the battle goes on for
our safety and environment. |
|
Victims
of Fiberglass - Five Years Later... Five years after the
Victims of Fiberglass group helped place fiberglass on a
list of substances for priority action by the United
States Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA),
fiberglass lobbyists cut a deal with the federal
government. The agreement precludes formal regulations
in exchange for industry's acceptance of a weak exposure
standard and more or less voluntary compliance.
Exposure monitoring is the responsibility of producers
and end users. We provide a verbatim
copy of the press release. Like trusting the wolf to
watch the sheep is how we read it. |

The
Origin of Cellulose Insulation... Cellulose was
first used as insulation and patented in England in
1893. It was used in the US from as early as 1904 with
the modern production of Cellulose Fiber Insulation from
recycled paper commencing in 1946. It has since spread
to every continent in the world and is recognized as the
safest and most environmentally friendly insulation
available. There has been many
technological advancements in the industry since the
early days of this industry. By adding a carefully
formulated mixture of mineral salts to recycled
newsprint, which has been appropriately ground, the
Cellulose Industry has a product which is a natural, safe, and highly effective
insulating material with exceptional properties that is
worthy of your consideration. Click this link for

Energy Saving Tips
Install a programmable thermostat!
Consider unplugging consumer electronics
when they are not in use. (Even when turned off, CD
players in the U.S. consume enough energy in one year to
power the Las Vegas Strip for six months.)
Close drapes and shades to keep direct
sunlight out and lower your cooling costs.
And of Course, Utilize Better Insulation in
your home and save!

About
this site |
|
|
The
Association for Better
Insulation strives to be the largest
association of it's kind in the world driven to maximizing the use of
the internet and progressive educational and marketing
materials designed to raise the public consciousness of
environmental and energy efficient technologies used in the
building trades that may actually result in our children and
our children's children having a planet worth living
on and that they live long enough to enjoy it. It is our
goal to form coalitions that have measurable results in
the political arenas to act as reality checks for big
business and government agencies that may practice
policies ultimately contrary to public safety, health
and well being.
Better
Insulation dot com is presently driven by its members
and public need to focus on:
1) Serving as an advocate of change
for fiberglass insulation contractors so they will stop
using materials dangerous to humans and our environment
and to increase the market share of alternative energy
efficient technologies through the use of public
information forums such as this web site. 2) Instilling
consumer and business confidence in alternative building
products that will lead to wide spread usage of
alternative energy saving materials and procedures. 3) Developing a communal environment in which
member companies can further their goals through
information, education, leadership forums, networking
opportunities and public relations support.
As an
independent subsidiary of the J&M Distributing, The
Association for Better Insulation serves the interests of companies
dedicated to promoting environmentally sound
technologies who are focused on the business use of the Internet and
interactive marketing media to more effectively reach their
respective marketplaces. We also provide conventional
marketing materials for these industries in the form of
printed materials. All companies are required to
utilize environmentally friendly technologies and
practices to be listed on this site.
JOIN TODAY and everyone in your company
receives full benefits from just one
membership! Private
Supporters and volunteers are welcome and
needed. Our most pressing need at the moment is for the
names and contact information of Cellulose, Foam, and
other Alternative Insulation Contractors
in the US, Canada, or Worldwide as there is no category
search of any known databases that separates Cellulose,
Foam, or other Modern Insulation from fiberglass insulation contractors.
Whether by design or not, a search of any of the online
business database (i.e. yellowpages.com) fails to
separate insulation contractors into categories that
would benefit people who are informed or wish to be
informed of alternate insulation technologies. We are
here to fulfill that need. We would appreciate it if you
would share with
us the contact info of any alt insulation Contractors in your
locale. Or, alternatively, share this site's URL with
those companies. Thank you. Click here for our privacy policy
